Can a dog food be too good? No. It's the reason we use only the best in Nature's Kitchen® and
Genesis Raw® and Bark N Bits®. Your dog will benefit from the high-quality ingredients, just as you would from your own food. Dogs are our family members, treat them like it. They just might stop begging around the dinner table... |
What to do with the used NK containers? Our families recycle them, and so can yours. It is our goal to not cause any unnecessary waste, thus, every container, label, and seal can be re-consumed. Everything that we use to produce Nature's Kitchen® is 100% recyclable. Heck, even our website uses wind power!

Why is Natures Kitchen® frozen?Using only the highest quality, fresh, natural, human-grade ingredients in our dog food-why would anyone think of using preservatives (even natural ones)? What are your options? Why wouldn't you freeze it? We decided the only way to keep it natural and the unnatural stuff out was to flash freeze it. A sealed container will keep in your freezer for a year and your fridge for about 10 days. After opened, use Nature's Kitchen® within 7 days.

All dog foods are the same, right?NO!!! If you realize what can legally be added to pet food you can come to that conclusion yourself. The use of non-nutritional substitutes like animal by-products, roadkill, euthanized animals, etc...all can be, and more often, are allowed ingredients. There is a growing consensus that a large majority of commercial pet food provide minimal dietary needs required to keep a dog alive. We want your dog to thrive, not just survive.
Why does NK seem more expensive? We decided to use real meat and vegetables, not remnants and byproducts. As such, they cost little bit more, and it will cost you a little more. But rest assured, we are making the best food available for your dog. Remember low cost usually means cheap ingredients.
Can I mix NK with my dog’s dry food?Absolutely Yes! While we would love for everyone to feed their dog only Nature's Kitchen®, we recognize that sometimes it just doesn't make economical sense. If you decide to mix Nature's Kitchen with a dry food, reduce the dry food because you are adding Nature's Kitchen.
Is there a difference between NK and other wet foods? You bet there is! Using no preservatives or high heat, Nature's Kitchen® is already different. Both are usually required required in canning and reduce the nutritional quality of the food. Our first ingredient is USDA Grade-A meat and makes up at least 80% of the recipe. Also, don't forget that we freeze the food instead of using chemicals. In Genesis RAW, it's 83%!
My dog has weight issues. Will NK cause him to gain?We don't use a bunch of carb laden fillers. We make real food with fresh meat and vegetables. Nature's Kitchen® provides your dog a highly digestible and nutritious meal. If your dog has a weight issue, refer to the NUTRITION tab on the menu at the top of the page. Your dog may need to eat less Nature's Kitchen®, but you're the best judge.....feed accordingly.
My dog is picky, will he eat NK?We giggle when we hear this. Picky eaters have somehow become our BEST customers. Think of it this way...If you took what you were eating from your dinner plate and put it in their bowl, would they eat it? If the answer is yes, then Nature's Kitchen® will be the food for them. We just make sure that it is nutritionally balanced for them.
Aren't organ meats cheap fillers? No. Organ meats provide your dog an ideal source of protein, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and nutrients. Some other pet food companies use them as cheap fillers. However, in Nature's Kitchen®, they are used in the appropriate ratio to provide your dog the most balanced wild diet available. After all, what do wolves eat first after they catch their prey? The organs.
How much Nature's Kitchen should I feed my dog? There is some confusion about this, especially converting from a dry food to a wet food. We consider weight and activity. A dog should eat roughly 2-2.5% of their body weight each day to maintain. We have provided you a feeding chart on the NUTRITION tab on the menu located at the top of this page. Isn't shipping a frozen product to me expensive?Normally it is. However, when you ship as many times as Maverick Pet Foods ships on a weekly basis, the shipping companies tend work with you to keep costs low. We have automatically passed those savings on to you, our customers. Most mail-order pet food companies make a heavy margin on shipping and handling charges. We don't.
